Around 470 Panzer IV F1 were produced from April 1941 to February 1942. It had the 8 wheel suspension like its predecessors and was still armed with the short barreled 7,5cm KwK37 L/24 and two MG34. The crew consisted of 5 soldiers. The Panzer IV Ausf.F1 featured the new 50mm thick frontal armor and had the new 40cm wide tracks. The engine was the 265HP Maybach HL120TRM which allowed a maximum speed of 42km/h on street. The Panzer IV Ausf.F1 was 5.92m long, 2.88m wide and 2.68m high. It weighted 22.3 tons. The 15.Panzerdivision was raised in November 1940 and was sent to North-Africa in April 1941. It served there in many battles until their defeat and surrender in May 1943 in Tunisia. |
